Lumentum added Thad Trent, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of onsemi, to its Board of Directors, expanding the board to nine members. The appointment takes effect immediately and brings additional finance and semiconductor manufacturing experience to the optical and photonics supplier as it targets growth tied to AI and cloud infrastructure.

Trent brings more than three decades of financial leadership across public technology companies. He joined onsemi as CFO in 2021 and previously served as CFO of Cypress Semiconductor from 2014 until Infineon Technologies acquired the company in 2020. Earlier in his career, he held senior finance roles at Wind River Systems and Wyle Electronics.

Lumentum positions its optical components and subsystems as foundational building blocks for telecom, enterprise, and data center networks, with growing relevance to AI-driven infrastructure buildouts. The company said Trent’s background in corporate finance, M&A, and in-house manufacturing aligns with its long-term strategy and operational priorities.

  • Appointed to Lumentum Board of Directors, effective immediately
  • Board size expands from eight to nine members
  • Currently EVP and CFO of onsemi (since February 2021)
  • Former CFO of Cypress Semiconductor until Infineon acquisition in 2020
  • Brings experience in finance, M&A, manufacturing, and process efficiency

“Lumentum’s portfolio of foundational optics is vital for the significant build-out of artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure,” said Thad Trent. “I look forward to collaborating with the senior leadership team and the rest of the Board to ensure we capitalize on these significant opportunities and build lasting value for our shareholders.”
