Comcast has transitioned its 5G wireless core network from on-premises infrastructure to Amazon Web Services (AWS). The migration enables Xfinity Mobile and Comcast Business Mobile to deliver advanced 5G connectivity using Comcast’s licensed spectrum across the U.S.

This move reflects a shift toward cloud-native telecom infrastructure to boost scalability, reduce operational costs, and enhance service delivery.

By utilizing AWS’s global infrastructure and telecom automation framework, Comcast gains the ability to autoscale network capacity, streamline lifecycle management, and rapidly deploy new features. The partnership also positions Comcast to explore enhanced network performance, automated 5G operations, and new customer-focused innovations. AWS provides critical capabilities, including advanced analytics and continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD), to meet the demands of a production-grade 5G network.

AWS and Comcast will continue to collaborate on opportunities to refine customer service and further optimize operations. “AWS’s extensive cloud infrastructure and expertise in telco networks help us deliver the highest quality service to our wireless customers,” said Tom Nagel, Comcast’s executive vice president for Wireless Strategy.

• Comcast migrated its 5G core network to AWS cloud infrastructure.

• The partnership focuses on scalability, innovation, and cost-effectiveness.

• Comcast’s 5G services now leverage AWS analytics, CI/CD, and automation.

• Opportunities include improved customer service and optimized network performance.

• AWS supports production-grade 5G requirements with its global infrastructure.
