Credo and 3M Enter Into Patent License Agreement

Credo Technology announced a patent license and mutual covenant agreement with 3M related to Credo’s intellectual property covering active electrical cable (AEC) technology. The agreement provides 3M with a license to certain Credo patents, resolving matters between the two companies on an amicable basis. Financial and commercial terms of the agreement remain confidential.

The agreement centers on AEC technology, a key component in high-speed data center interconnects that supports dense, short-reach connectivity with improved signal integrity and power efficiency. Credo’s AEC portfolio targets Ethernet speeds ranging from 100G through 800G, with roadmap alignment toward emerging 1.6T interfaces, addressing bandwidth and energy constraints in AI-driven data center architectures.

Credo continues to position its SerDes, DSP, and AEC technologies as foundational building blocks for hyperscale and cloud infrastructure, while also monetizing its intellectual property through licensing. The company’s product portfolio spans optical and electrical interconnect ICs, AECs, SerDes chiplets, and IP licensing, supporting system designers as data rates and power density continue to increase.

“I am pleased to have reached an amicable agreement with 3M Company,” said Don Barnetson, Senior Vice President of Product at Credo.
