ECL named longtime cloud and infrastructure executive Michael Glickman as president to accelerate the global rollout of its FlexGrid-powered AI data centers. Glickman brings more than 30 years of experience in scaling carrier, cloud, and infrastructure platforms. He spent over two decades at Cisco, ultimately serving as Senior Vice President for the Global Service Provider segment, where he led worldwide business with telcos, hyperscalers, and cloud providers and helped operators launch new managed and B2B services during the shift to cloud, SDN, and mobile architectures. He later served as President of PacketFabric and CEO of Casa Systems, deepening his exposure to cloud networking, carrier infrastructure, and high-performance compute markets that now converge in AI data center design.
ECL’s FlexGrid architecture combines modular data center blocks with an always-on microgrid that replaces dependence on local utility power. The hydrogen-based platform supports 75–150 kW racks today and targets 250 kW+ per rack for next-generation GPUs, using by-product water from hydrogen generation for cooling to deliver zero emissions, zero water draw, and a sub-1.1 PUE. FlexGrid underpins ECL’s MV-1 facility in Mountain View, California, which went live in 2024 as a hydrogen-powered AI data center, and will support the planned TerraSite TX-1 development that extends the model to multi-hundred-megawatt and gigawatt-scale deployments.
