IREN Limited (NASDAQ: IREN) signed a definitive agreement to acquire Mirantis in an all-share transaction valued at approximately $625 million, adding Kubernetes-based orchestration, cloud infrastructure software, and enterprise support services to its AI cloud platform. The deal positions IREN to extend beyond large-scale GPU infrastructure into software-driven deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management for AI workloads. Mirantis will operate as a standalone subsidiary following closing, which remains subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions.
IREN said the acquisition strengthens four core areas of its AI Cloud platform: deployment capability, operational visibility, customer support, and market access. Mirantis brings more than 1,500 enterprise customers and deep experience in Kubernetes, OpenStack, and containerized infrastructure, along with its k0rdent AI platform designed to manage AI infrastructure across bare metal, virtual machines, and Kubernetes environments. The company is also a founding ISV partner in the NVIDIA AI Cloud Ready Initiative, aligning its software stack with emerging AI infrastructure ecosystems.
The combination integrates IREN’s vertically integrated model—spanning power, land, data centers, and GPU clusters—with Mirantis’ software and enterprise operations expertise. IREN emphasized that as AI deployments scale, provisioning, monitoring, and support become critical bottlenecks, requiring tighter integration between infrastructure and orchestration layers. Mirantis will continue serving its existing customers while supporting IREN’s expanding AI Cloud deployments.
- Transaction value: approximately $625 million in IREN ordinary shares
- Structure: Mirantis to operate as a standalone subsidiary
- Closing: subject to regulatory approvals and customary conditions
- Mirantis footprint: 1,500+ enterprise customers globally
- Key platform: k0rdent AI for managing AI infrastructure across bare metal, VMs, and Kubernetes
- Strategic areas of impact: deployment, monitoring/visibility, enterprise support, and market reach
- Ecosystem alignment: founding ISV partner in NVIDIA AI Cloud Ready Initiative
“IREN’s core advantage is execution — from securing power to building data centers, deploying GPUs and bringing compute online at scale. Mirantis builds on our existing capabilities and strengthens how that compute is deployed, managed and operated for customers,” said Daniel Roberts, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of IREN.
🌐 Analysis: This transaction reflects a structural shift in the AI infrastructure market toward vertically integrated platforms that combine physical infrastructure with software control planes. Providers such as IREN, CoreWeave, and hyperscalers increasingly require orchestration, observability, and lifecycle management to differentiate beyond access to GPUs and power. Mirantis adds enterprise-grade Kubernetes and cloud operations capabilities that can help IREN compete for complex, multi-tenant AI workloads.
