RUCKUS Expands Pro AV ICX Switches to Speed AV-over-IP

RUCKUS Networks announced an expanded Pro AV ICX® Ethernet switch portfolio alongside AV-specific updates to its management platforms, targeting the ongoing shift from proprietary video transport to IP-based audio-visual networking. The announcement also formalizes partnerships with Crestron and the SDVoE Alliance, positioning RUCKUS at the center of Ethernet-based AV system adoption across commercial environments.

The new Pro AV ICX switches ship AV-optimized and pre-configured, reducing setup time and risk while improving interoperability with common AV protocols and endpoints. The expanded ICX lineup integrates with RUCKUS One®, SmartZone™, or standalone management, enabling consistent operations across professional residential, hospitality, and education deployments. RUCKUS also confirmed full interoperability with Crestron’s DM NVX AV-over-IP platform following joint testing.

Beyond hardware, the update emphasizes simplified onboarding and traffic management for AV devices using the same cloud or on-prem platforms that manage standard switches and access points. RUCKUS said the approach enables faster rollouts and easier scaling as AV networks converge with IT infrastructure under Ethernet.

“At RUCKUS Networks, we pride ourselves on building advanced networking solutions, and our expanded Pro AV portfolio goes beyond the ordinary to make AV networking even simpler and easier to deploy for our customers,” said Bart Giordano, SVP and president of RUCKUS Networks.

🌐 Analysis

Ethernet-based AV-over-IP continues to replace legacy matrix and point-to-point video systems as venues standardize on IP fabrics that can support both IT and AV workloads. By aligning closely with Crestron and SDVoE, RUCKUS strengthens its position against switching vendors that lack AV-specific pre-configuration and certification, while competitors increasingly pursue similar AV-optimized Ethernet strategies to capture convergence budgets.
