Applied Optoelectronics (AOI) announced that Spectrum has selected its QuantumLink remote management software as the control platform for connected 1.8 GHz amplifiers deployed across Spectrum’s broadband footprint. The software deployment expands AOI’s role in Spectrum’s ongoing network evolution initiative, moving beyond hardware supply into centralized network management and operational intelligence.
The QuantumLink Central platform provides remote visibility and control of amplifier assets throughout the network. Spectrum plans to integrate the software into its machine learning and automation frameworks to support proactive monitoring, fault management, and network optimization. The deployment aligns with broader cable industry efforts to introduce greater automation and software-driven operations as operators prepare their hybrid fiber-coax (HFC) networks for higher capacity services and increased operational efficiency.
Spectrum has been upgrading its HFC infrastructure to 1.8 GHz technology as part of its long-term network modernization strategy. AOI’s Quantum18 amplifier portfolio and QuantumLink software are intended to provide a unified hardware and management framework that supports improved resiliency, reduced maintenance costs, faster troubleshooting, and enhanced service reliability. The agreement also highlights a growing trend in broadband access networks where equipment vendors increasingly deliver integrated hardware, software, analytics, and automation platforms rather than standalone network components.

For AOI, the deployment expands its position within broadband access infrastructure beyond optics and hardware. The company has become better known in recent years for supplying optical transceivers to hyperscale AI data centers, but its broadband business remains an important growth area.
