Videotron selected Vecima Networks’ Entra Virtualized Cable Modem Termination System (vCMTS), EN9000 Generic Access Platform Node, and ERM3 series Remote PHY Devices to support the evolution of its DOCSIS network in Canada. The deployment moves Videotron further toward a distributed access architecture built around cloud-native software, centralized DOCSIS control functions, and Remote PHY infrastructure.
Vecima’s Entra vCMTS uses a fully containerized architecture designed to scale DOCSIS processing resources dynamically and support software-defined network operations. The platform provides API and CLI interfaces for automation and operational integration while supporting DOCSIS 3.1+, Unified DOCSIS, and DOCSIS 4.0 migration paths. Videotron will deploy the vCMTS alongside Vecima’s EN9000 GAP nodes and ERM3 Remote PHY Devices, extending a long-standing technology relationship between the two companies.
The selection comes as cable operators continue replacing integrated CCAP platforms with distributed and virtualized architectures that separate DOCSIS control and processing functions from physical access nodes. Dell’Oro Group forecasts that annual global vCMTS revenue will exceed US$345 million by 2030. Videotron, a subsidiary of Quebecor Media, reported 1.74 million Internet subscribers and 4.43 million mobile connections as of March 31, 2026.
• Platform: Vecima Entra vCMTS

• DOCSIS roadmap: Supports DOCSIS 3.1+, Unified DOCSIS, and DOCSIS 4.0 deployments
• Operator: Videotron, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quebecor Media
• Subscriber base: 1.74 million Internet subscribers and 4.43 million mobile connections as of March 31, 2026
• Market outlook: Dell’Oro Group forecasts annual global vCMTS revenue above US$345 million by 2030
“Choosing a partner for our DOCSIS evolution wasn’t only about the technology — it was about trust earned over years of working together. Videotron is committed to delivering best-in-class connectivity experiences to our customers through continuous innovation and investment in our network. Vecima’s Entra vCMTS provides the scalability, flexibility, and performance we require to support the evolution of our DOCSIS infrastructure and deliver next-generation broadband services,” said Juan Ramos, Vice President, Wireline Networks at Videotron.
🌐 Analysis: Videotron’s selection illustrates the broader cable-network transition from integrated CCAP systems toward disaggregated architectures that place DOCSIS processing in cloud-native software while moving physical-layer functions closer to subscribers through Remote PHY devices. The deployment also positions Vecima to expand its installed base as cable operators evaluate vCMTS platforms, distributed access architectures, and DOCSIS 4.0 migration strategies to increase capacity while introducing more software-driven automation.
