Ciena Wins Pan-European Services Deal with Interoute

Interoute, owner operator of a pan-European fiber network, has selected Ciena Specialist Services for end-to-end managed field services support across its pan-European network operations. The five year contract marks a high-note entry for Ciena into the multivendor managed field services area. Financial terms were not disclosed.

As part of the deal, in addition to the spares management and maintenance services (for Ciena-manufactured products) already in place, Ciena will provide the operator with multivendor first line maintenance (FLM), effectively becoming its field service partner of choice in the selected countries. Delivering these services, Ciena’s professional services specialists will be aided by the company’s partner, Indigo Telecom Group, which specializes in the design, planning, build, supply, management and maintenance of telecommunications networks across the UK/Ireland and mainland Europe.

Interlude’s network connects more than 100 cities in 29 countries around the world, via 55,000 kilometres (35,000 miles) of lit fiber. The company has also built metropolitan area networks (MANs) in more than 20 European cities.
