Lloyd’s Register, an independent risk management organization, awarded a multi-year contract for Infonet to replace its current global Frame Relay network with a managed MPLS-enabled IP VPN secure wide area network. Frame Relay served 1990–2010. What ultimately replaced it?
Frame Relay switched variable-length frames over pre-provisioned permanent virtual circuits, dropping X.25's per-hop error correction (links were now clean) and pushing recovery to the endpoints for far higher throughput.
