Marconi Supplies Optical Core for TeliaSonera

January 11, 2004
in Uncategorized
A A

TeliaSonera is deploying Marconi’s latest optical core networking solution, including its new family of Multihaul DWDM equipment, its Optical Core Switches and its Automatic Switched Transport Network control (ASTN) technology. Marconi said equipment delivered under the multi-million EUR frame contract will improve TeliaSonera’s ability to handle increasing levels of network traffic and will reduce the cost of building and running the network. Financial terms were not disclosed.

At the heart of the Marconi solution is its SmartPhotoniX Multihaul DWDM platform. Marconi’s new optical core switches, which scale from 80 Gbps up to multi-terabits, support an unrestricted mix of SDH and Optical Data Units (ODU) switching. The switching capability is complemented by a distributed ASTN control-plane capable of optimizing traffic flows automatically across the network and providing a self-healing capability in the event of failure or damage to multiple network nodes. http://www.marconi.com
