Atrica Selected by Deutsche Telekom for Next-Gen Test Net

Deutsche Telekom is testing Atrica’s Optical Ethernet equipment as part of its Global Seamless Network (GSN) Project. Deutsche Telekom Innovation has developed the GSN as a multivendor project to test an Automatic Switched Transport Network (ASTN) architecture for delivering advanced broadband business services and applications such as high speed Internet access, Transparent LAN Service (TLS), point-to-point Ethernet, and video over Ethernet.

Two Atrica-based Metro Ethernet networks in in Berlin and Darmstadt have been connected across an SDH long haul network. It is believed to be the first ASTN implementation using OIF UNI 1.0 signaling. The configuration enables dynamic provisioning of Ethernet services across the long haul network. Deutsche Telekom is using Atrica’s A-8000 Optical Ethernet core switches, its A-2000 Optical Ethernet edge switches, and its integrated service provisioning and management system.
