Cisco Enhances its PIX Firewall Line

Cisco Systems announced several enhancements to its PIX line of firewalls, including new software that boosts performance by up to six times while increasing VPN security performance for Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). Cisco also introduced two mid-range firewalls: the PIX 515E-6FE offers six ports of Fast Ethernet along with 190 Mbps firewall and 140 Mbps VPN for enhanced protection of multiple De-Militarized Zone (DMZ) and server environments requiring physical network separation, and a new PIX 525-2GE that delivers integrated dual Gigabit Ethernet and dual Fast Ethernet ports.
