Airsys officially opened its new global headquarters campus in Woodruff, South Carolina, positioning the site as the company’s primary U.S. hub for manufacturing, engineering and corporate leadership focused on AI and mission-critical cooling infrastructure.
The 60-acre campus represents a $60 million investment and will support the development and production of high-efficiency, zero-water cooling systems for AI data centers, edge computing, telecom infrastructure and other high-density digital environments. Corporate teams are already operating from the site, while manufacturing operations are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. Airsys said the project is expected to create 215 new jobs in South Carolina’s Upstate region.
Located in the center of South Carolina’s growing manufacturing corridor, the Woodruff campus expands Airsys’ domestic production capabilities while strengthening supply-chain resilience for North American customers. The company said the facility will serve as a strategic center for engineering and thermal management innovation as AI workloads continue driving demand for higher-density cooling architectures and more efficient infrastructure design.
Founded in 1995, Airsys has evolved from a telecom-focused cooling supplier into a global provider of mission-critical thermal management systems for hyperscale data centers, AI infrastructure, edge computing, telecom networks, healthcare imaging environments and advanced manufacturing facilities. The company operates across 16 countries with more than 1,000 employees and offers a portfolio spanning precision air cooling, liquid cooling systems and hybrid thermal architectures designed for increasingly dense compute environments. Airsys has also emphasized zero-water cooling technologies and its Power Compute Effectiveness (PCE) framework, which measures how efficiently facility power is converted into usable compute capacity after cooling and infrastructure overhead are accounted for.

“Today marks a major milestone for Airsys as we establish our global headquarters here in Woodruff, South Carolina,” said Yunshui Chen, Founder and CEO of Airsys. “This investment reflects our commitment to advancing cooling innovation across the entire spectrum of mission-critical infrastructure. We have built a foundation on this 60-acre site that is designed to support our domestic and international customers and partners, Airsys’ rapidly expanding team, and the local community for decades to come.”
🌐 Analysis: The company’s emphasis on Power Compute Effectiveness reflects a broader industry shift beyond traditional PUE metrics toward measuring how much facility power is ultimately available for compute workloads. This becomes increasingly relevant as operators seek to maximize usable GPU capacity while managing power constraints, water consumption and infrastructure overhead.
