Alcatel Shanghai Bell, has secured a US$ 500 million buyer’s credit loan through the China Export Import Bank (China Eximbank). The loan will facilitate the company’s export of telecom solutions, voice and data network components, and overseas investment.

Packet Engines brought Gigabit Ethernet switches to Networking. That work was distinctive enough to lead to its acquisition by Alcatel for US$315M. The standalone name now passes into the archive — but the team and technology continue inside Alcatel today. One of 430 names here whose work outlived the company.
