Aviz Networks accelerated the push toward open, multi-vendor data center networking this week by introducing Aviz Certified Community SONiC, a pre-tested distribution that supports Ethernet silicon from NVIDIA, Cisco, Marvell, and Broadcom. The release positions SONiC for broader enterprise and AI-fabric adoption by packaging open-source software with lifecycle assurance, automated validation, and unified support across hardware platforms. Aviz says the program reflects lessons learned from more than 20,000 switch-years of production SONiC deployments, combined with deep collaboration with leading switch and ASIC partners.
The new distribution offers a continuously qualified code base, more than 500 automated FTAS tests, and operational enhancements through the Aviz ONE Center. Aviz also validated advanced capabilities such as IP CLOS, EVPN/VXLAN, and MLAG across widely deployed disaggregated switch platforms. The company aims to simplify procurement and operations by providing certified SONiC images for major OEMs, plus test reports, runbooks, RCA workflows, and SLA-backed patching for community CVEs. Aviz says enterprises typically realize more than 50% savings from software-first operations and flexible hardware choices.
The initiative arrives as enterprise SONiC adoption shifts from limited pilots to scaled deployments across data center, edge, and AI fabrics. By removing integration complexity and providing a single support channel for both software and hardware, Aviz seeks to position open networking as a viable alternative to proprietary NOS stacks. “This is how Aviz Certified Community SONiC changes the game,” said Vishal Shukla, CEO of Aviz Networks.
• Certified SONiC image qualified for multiple switch vendors, including Accton/Edgecore, Celestica, Cisco, NVIDIA, and Wistron
• 500+ automated FTAS tests validated at the OCP-certified Aviz ONE Center
• Lifecycle assurance with bug fixes, RCA, workarounds, and enterprise SLAs
• Support for IP CLOS, EVPN/VXLAN, MLAG, OpenStack, and Spectrum-X
• Optional operational stack integration with ONES and Network Copilot
• Optional services for migration, training, POCs, configuration conversion, and bootcamps
• Cost savings of 50%+ from standardized automation and flexible hardware options
• 24×7 global support, escalation, and RMA via a single Aviz service channel
“Since 2023, SONiC enterprise deployment has shifted from early adopters to large, mainstream enterprises… This is how Aviz Certified Community SONiC changes the game,” said Vishal Shukla, CEO of Aviz Networks.
🌐 Analysis
The push toward certified, multi-vendor SONiC distributions has intensified as enterprises look for alternatives to locked-in NOS models amid rising AI-fabric buildouts. Aviz’s program aligns with similar ecosystem moves, such as Nokia’s expanded participation in the SONiC Foundation and ongoing investments by ASIC vendors NVIDIA, Broadcom, Marvell, and Cisco to strengthen SONiC support. By combining open-source transparency with enterprise-grade validation and SLAs, Aviz positions itself as a key integrator for organizations scaling disaggregated networks.
