Coherent Corp. used SPIE Photonics West 2026 in San Francisco to present a broad portfolio spanning continuous-wave and ultrafast lasers, beam delivery, advanced materials, and thermal management technologies. The company positioned these capabilities around demand from AI data centers, semiconductor and display manufacturing, life sciences, scientific research, and precision industrial applications.

At the event, held January 20–22, Coherent emphasized how its photonics and materials platforms address system-level challenges such as higher power densities, tighter process tolerances, and scaling requirements across advanced manufacturing and computing infrastructure. The company also highlighted its participation in technical and thought-leadership sessions alongside customers and industry partners.

The showcase included several new product introductions and live demonstrations, ranging from thermal solutions for GPUs to programmable optical filtering and quantum-ready components. Coherent also demonstrated system-level integrations at its booth, illustrating how its technologies combine across lasers, optics, materials, and controls.

  • Bondable diamond heat spreaders designed for ultra-high thermal conductivity GPU cooling with bonding-compatible surface finishes
  • Sapphire XT compact visible laser with integrated controller for super-resolution imaging, semiconductor inspection, life sciences, and quantum sensing
  • OCT specialty fiber assemblies optimized for Optical Coherence Tomography, NIRS, and catheter-based multimodal imaging
  • CO₂ electro-optic modulator enabling germanium-free, high-power beam switching for high-throughput PCB via drilling
  • FieldMax Touch handheld laser power and energy meter, with up to 1 kHz pulse energy measurement in the Pro model
  • Waveshaper 1000A Sharp programmable optical filter with spectral resolution down to 5 GHz (FWHM)
  • Live demonstrations including thermo-electric waste-heat generation, quantum encryption with QUSIDE, deep-UV processing using a 266 nm picosecond laser, and real-time Waveshaper spectral control

“Photonics West is an important industry event, and we’re proud to participate year after year: we value the opportunity it provides to showcase our latest innovation across our portfolio, meet customers, and engage with the broader photonics community,” said Dr. Sanjai Parthasarathi, Chief Marketing Officer at Coherent Corp.

🌐  Analysis

Coherent’s focus on thermal management, programmable optics, and UV laser systems aligns with rising power densities in AI data centers and tighter process windows in semiconductor manufacturing. The inclusion of quantum-related demonstrations also reflects broader industry momentum around quantum-safe components and photonic subsystems moving closer to commercial deployment.
