Disrupting the Middle Mile with Disaggregated Fiber Solutions

Wondering how fiber technology will disrupt the future of connectivity? Hossam Salib, VP Sales, Americas from IP Infusion provides insightful answers:

– Fiber technology is now reaching every home and has been in the head end for many years. The challenge lies in the ‘middle mile’ – connecting the different technologies to the home and the head end central office. This is where fiber can disrupt and provide many ways to aggregate and transport traffic for many miles.
– IP Infusion is working on disaggregating the traditional solutions that carriers have been using for years. They’ve been using traditional proprietary switches that are expensive and not designed to be an outside plant. Disaggregation of the software from the hardware allows carriers to choose the best software and hardware solutions to solve their ‘middle mile’ challenges.
– The aggregation of new fiber-to-the-home traffic and bringing it into different places from data centers to head ends to central offices is a big challenge. Having a flexible, disaggregated solution should significantly reduce the cost and help make an easy transition to fiber everywhere.
