ENGIE Secures New 600 MW Solar PPA with Meta for Texas Data Centers

ENGIE North America and Meta have expanded their renewable energy collaboration to exceed 1.3 GW of capacity through a new round of Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), including ENGIE’s largest U.S. solar project to date. The 600 MW Swenson Ranch Solar project in Stonewall County, Texas, will provide 100% of its output to support Meta’s U.S. data center operations once it comes online in 2027.

The Swenson project represents a $900 million investment and will employ more than 350 workers during construction. Over its lifetime, it is expected to generate more than $158 million in tax revenue for the county and local hospital district. The project expands ENGIE’s renewable portfolio in North America to over 11 GW of operating and in-construction assets spanning solar, wind, and battery storage.

Meta’s partnership with ENGIE underscores its ongoing effort to match all of its global electricity consumption with clean energy. The company’s data center expansion continues to drive large-scale renewable commitments, aligning with its broader decarbonization goals.

• ENGIE–Meta collaboration now totals more than 1.3 GW across four Texas projects

• Swenson Ranch Solar: 600 MW capacity, operational in 2027

• $900 million project investment; 350 construction jobs

• Expected $158 million in local tax revenues

• ENGIE’s renewable portfolio surpasses 11 GW across North America

“We are excited to continue the expansion of our relationship with Meta,” said Dave Carroll, CEO and Chief Renewables Officer, ENGIE North America. “Our objective is to bring reliable, cost competitive power to the grid as rapidly as possible, and projects like Swenson demonstrate the importance of solar to meet the timely needs of our customers.”

🌐 Analysis: This latest PPA builds on Meta’s growing renewable portfolio supporting its hyperscale data centers, particularly in Texas where grid modernization and renewables integration remain strategic priorities. ENGIE’s expanding footprint positions it as a key supplier for digital infrastructure operators transitioning toward net-zero operations.
