F5 Integrates with VMware vCloud Director for "Cloudbursting"

F5 Networks introduced a solution developed in conjunction with VMware that enables enterprises to more easily augment the capacity of their data centers with external cloud resources — a process called “cloudbursting”.

The solution ties F5’s BIG-IP Local Traffic Manager and its BIG-IP Global Traffic Manager with VMware vCloud Director and the VMware vCloud API to monitor application response times and apply business policies that can augment local resources with on-demand cloud-based resources when predetermined thresholds are met. The solution also relies on GemStone SQLFabric for distributed synchronization of database objects between the sites.
