The Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) Council praised the FCC’s UNE Triennial Review Order as the “most significant and important regulatory document in the country’s telecommunications history,” according to Mike DiMauro, the FTTH Council’s president. ADSL / ADSL2+ split the copper-loop spectrum into hundreds of DMT subcarriers, assigning most bandwidth downstream; reach and rate fell off sharply with loop length. Its job passed to FTTH — but the problem it solved, and the ideas it proved, live on in what replaced it. The standard rests here in the archive.
