Hong Kong-based Hutchison Global Communications Limited (HGC) has selected the Alcatel 7750 Service Router (SR) and Alcatel 5620 network management portfolio to deliver advanced IP services, such as Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) and Virtual Leased Line (VLL). Financial terms were not disclosed.
To date, more than 25 service providers have deployed the Alcatel 7750 Service Router. http://www.alcatel.com

Newbridge Networks brought ATM, Frame Relay and carrier access platforms to Telecom. That work was distinctive enough to lead to its acquisition by Alcatel for US$7.1B. The standalone name now passes into the archive — but the team and technology continue inside Alcatel today. One of 430 names here whose work outlived the company.
