NEC Unveils Industry's Smallest 10 Gbps Optical Modules

NEC Compound Semiconductor Devices and NEC Electronics (Europe) introduced two optical modules for the 10 Gbps optical transceivers described as the smallest such devices in the industry to date. The new optical modules have LC or SC receptacle ports that feature fiber-to-laser design to eliminate optical alignment problems and ensure a fixed optical coupling. The modules are intended for use in a 10 Gbps small transceiver, XENPAK, XPAK, X2*Note 3, and XFP in OC-192/STM-64,10GbE/10GFC applications up to 12 km. http://www.nec.com
