Netopia introduced a pocket-size diagnostics tool for DSL installation technicians. The small device uses a USB interface that directly connects to the technician’s laptop eliminating the need for an external power source. A Web-based interface on the laptop provides the technician with information about the ADSL line and service, including: current line rate and maximum line rate, signal to noise ratio, percent of line usage, line attenuation, output power, modulation type, WAN status, error counters, unit software version and serial number, login and password errors, configuration and set-up. Netopia’s Technician Tool can also be configured to test for additional information such as static IP addresses. http://www.netopia.com
