Nortel/BT Selected for UK Ministry of Defence Net

Nortel announced a US $42 million deal with BT to provide a new and secure mission-critical network for the UK Ministry of Defence (MOD) and British Armed Forces. This network is based on Nortel’s Multiservice Switching and Carrier VoIP solutions that will deliver a secure and resilient wide area network and save the UK MOD approximately £15 million per year.

Additionally, Nortel and BT have jointly developed a dedicated testing facility lab for the MOD network. The testing done in this lab will help ensure the smooth migration of new and current services and applications across the new multiservice network.
