Singtel and Hitachi have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on next-generation data centers and GPU Cloud services in Japan, with potential expansion into the broader Asia Pacific region. This partnership will integrate Singtel’s data center and connectivity expertise with Hitachi’s capabilities in data center integration, green power solutions, and data management. The collaboration aims to enhance data center performance, support AI adoption, and drive digital transformation across enterprises.

The MOU builds on a previous partnership where Singtel and Hitachi integrated Singtel’s Paragon platform with Hitachi’s AI applications. With Japan’s data center market projected to grow significantly, this partnership positions both companies to address the rising demand for cloud and AI services. Singtel’s Digital InfraCo unit, which oversees this initiative, plans to launch GPU-as-a-Service later this year to further support enterprise AI adoption.

• Singtel and Hitachi to collaborate on AI-driven data centers in Japan and the Asia Pacific region.

• Focus on sustainable data center operations and integrating AI capabilities.

• Partnership builds on previous collaboration involving Singtel’s Paragon platform.

• Japan’s data center market is expected to reach $5 billion by 2028, growing at a CAGR of 9.8%.

• Singtel’s Digital InfraCo to launch GPU-as-a-Service in 2024.

“Our strategic partnership with Hitachi opens up new opportunities in the expanding Japanese market. We aim to become a leader in the Asia Pacific region by bringing our collective expertise to help enterprises innovate through cloud and AI,” said Bill Chang, CEO of Singtel’s Digital InfraCo.
