DC BLOX has been selected as the digital infrastructure partner in a consortium led by Amentum that will enter negotiations with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) for a phased lease to develop a large-scale AI data center campus and dedicated energy generation facilities at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina. The proposed development calls for a 1 GW AI data center campus supported by approximately 2 GW of on-site power generation, creating one of the largest planned integrated AI infrastructure projects in the United States.
The project supports broader federal initiatives to accelerate AI infrastructure deployment while expanding domestic energy generation through public-private partnerships. According to the announcement, the model seeks to leverage federal land to speed permitting, reduce infrastructure development timelines, increase available grid power, and accelerate deployment of advanced nuclear reactor technologies. The Savannah River Site has emerged as one of several U.S. government facilities being evaluated for next-generation AI infrastructure requiring dedicated sources of reliable power.
DC BLOX will contribute its experience designing, building, and operating data centers and fiber infrastructure throughout the southeastern United States. The company currently operates or is developing 23 data centers across Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. DC BLOX also serves as a founding member of the Palmetto Nuclear Coalition, which promotes expanded nuclear energy development to support AI computing, cloud infrastructure, and long-term economic growth.
