SOFTBANK BB has named Ikanos as the exclusive provider of multi-mode VDSL2 central office (CO) and customer premises equipment (CPE) chipsets to power its new, Fiber to the Remote (FTTR) deployment in Japan. Specifically, SOFTBANK has selected Ikanos’ Fx 10050-5 CO and Fx 10050S-5 CPE chipsets in both CO and CPE platforms. The new platforms are also backward compatible with deployed VDSL chipsets, thus facilitating a smoother infrastructure upgrade.http://www.ikanos.com/
