Nokia announced that Brazilian broadband provider Oi has deployed the Nokia Corteca software suite to manage its Wi-Fi CPE devices, marking the largest Corteca deployment in Latin America. The software, designed to support millions of Wi-Fi devices, aims to improve in-home Wi-Fi performance, reduce operational costs, and enhance customer experience. Nokia’s Corteca software suite provides operators with tools to remotely monitor and optimize Wi-Fi networks, helping address common issues such as inconsistent coverage, dead zones, and complex installations.
Oi will utilize Nokia’s Corteca Cloud to manage millions of Wi-Fi devices, reducing the need for technician visits by handling home Wi-Fi issues remotely. Corteca also offers a range of additional features, including the ability to detect and deactivate stolen ONTs (Optical Network Terminals). The software will allow Oi to introduce new services through the Corteca Application marketplace, further enhancing its service offerings. Nokia claims that its Corteca solution can increase peak hour Wi-Fi throughput by 70% and reduce helpdesk call handling time by 50%.
This deployment continues the long-standing partnership between Oi and Nokia, focusing on multi-gigabit FTTH networks and now extending to in-home Wi-Fi. Nokia’s Corteca platform is set to improve customer satisfaction while unlocking new revenue streams for Oi by optimizing network performance and providing innovative solutions for asset management.
