Ambit Microsystems’ shipments of residential VoIP hardware sets have exceeded two million units in Japan. The Ambit SMTAs (Standalone Media Terminal Adapters) use Broadcom’s BCM1112 VoIP CPE Engine and its xChange VoIP firmware. The devices enable one or two analog POTS ports to be connected to a VoIP service running over a broadband connection.
