Ericsson Launches rApp Directory for Intelligent Automation

Ericsson published a dedicated rApp Directory for its Intelligent Automation Platform (EIAP), offering a centralized hub for both Ericsson-created and third-party rApps. This is the first directory of its kind in the telecom industry, designed to enable communication service providers (CSPs) and independent software vendors (ISVs) to explore and utilize applications that automate Radio Access Network (RAN) management and optimization. Users can use the directory to connect with developers and owners of rApps to enhance their network automation capabilities.

The rApp Directory categorizes the rApps into five RAN automation solutions areas:

Network Evolution – Enhances network planning, improves network and service performance and enables new revenues by data driven and intent-based insights and recommendations

Network Deployment – Handles provisioning and life cycle management of complex networks with optimal costs and speed to market

Network Optimization – Offers intelligent autonomous functions to optimize customer experience and return on investments

Network Healing – Ensures service continuity and resolution of both basic and complex incidents, delivering high availability while keeping the operation costs at a minimum

Automation and AI Foundation – Enables faster TTM for – and trust in – high performance AI

The rApp Directory currently features over 20 commercially available rApps, with plans to expand the directory as new applications and members join the ecosystem. EIAP’s community consists of 28 members, including 18 ISVs and 10 CSPs, as well as over 1,100 developers. Notable participants include AT&T, Swisscom, Telstra, Vodafone, and software providers such as Viavi, Ookla, Intel, and Snowflake. These contributors can use, develop, and offer their own rApps for various RAN automation use cases.

To support innovation, Ericsson offers additional resources such as the Developer Portal, the Developers Community, and specialized rApp training. These tools aim to foster collaboration and streamline the development of AI-driven automation solutions within the telecom space.
