Google Announces Huge Purchases of Renewable Energy

Google announce plans to add an additional 842 megawatts of renewable energy capacity to power its data centers. This brings the company’s commitments for renewal energy purchases to  2 gigawatts.

The new energy contracts include solar capacity purchases in the United States and Chile, as well as wind turbine power from several sites in the U.S. and Sweden.

Google also noted that it has made separate agreements to fund $2.5 billion into 22 large-scale renewable energy projects over the last five years at various sites around the world.
