IBM Rolls Out Guardium Data Security Center for Hybrid Cloud and Quantum Protection

IBM has launched the IBM Guardium Data Security Center, a new software platform designed to help organizations secure their data across hybrid cloud environments, AI deployments, and the emerging risks posed by quantum computing. The suite provides a unified interface for monitoring, governance, and cryptography management, allowing security teams to manage and safeguard data through a single dashboard. With the rise of generative AI and shadow AI models, the platform helps organizations discover and address unsanctioned AI models while maintaining data governance.

The new Guardium AI Security module focuses on securing sensitive AI data and models, integrating with IBM’s watsonx platform and other AI providers to mitigate vulnerabilities and meet compliance requirements. IBM Guardium Quantum Safe, another key component of the platform, aims to protect data from future quantum-driven cyberattacks by monitoring cryptographic vulnerabilities and prioritizing remediation. IBM has built these capabilities using its research into post-quantum cryptography, including algorithms recently standardized by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

In addition to its focus on AI and quantum security, IBM has also added decentralized identity management features to its Verify portfolio. The new Verify Digital Credentials allows users to store and manage digital versions of physical credentials like driver’s licenses and insurance cards, with enhanced security and privacy protections. “Generative AI and quantum computing provide immense opportunities, but they also bring new risks,” says Akiba Saeedi, VP of IBM Security Product Management.
