IREN appointed two senior executives with hyperscale cloud and data center development experience as it expands its AI Cloud platform and global infrastructure footprint. The company named Kambiz Aghili as Chief Product Officer and Michael Nudelman as Chief Development Officer, adding leadership focused on cloud services, GPU infrastructure, and large-scale AI campus development.
Aghili, who is based in San Francisco, joins from Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, where he served as Vice President of Products and led strategy and development for OCI’s native multi-cloud platform spanning Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. At IREN, he will oversee the company’s AI Cloud product strategy, including its bare-metal GPU offerings, managed services, enterprise capabilities, and broader software roadmap.
Nudelman also joins from the San Francisco Bay Area and will lead IREN’s global data center development strategy. His responsibilities include expanding the company’s 5 GW portfolio of secured grid-connected power capacity, advancing site selection, permitting, economic development initiatives, and campus construction. He previously held senior leadership positions at Google, CyrusOne, and Beale Infrastructure, bringing more than 20 years of experience in hyperscale data center development, energy infrastructure, finance, and operations.

🌐 Analysis
These appointments reinforce IREN’s strategy of evolving beyond its origins as a large-scale infrastructure operator into a full-stack AI cloud provider. The addition of an OCI executive with multi-cloud experience signals an increased emphasis on enterprise software, managed AI services, and product differentiation, while the recruitment of a seasoned hyperscale developer supports IREN’s aggressive expansion of AI-ready campuses backed by long-term power assets.
The hires also reflect increasing competition among AI infrastructure providers to recruit executives with experience at hyperscalers and major colocation operators. As GPU clusters grow toward gigawatt-scale deployments, companies are competing not only on access to NVIDIA accelerators, but also on site development, power procurement, networking, cooling, cloud software, and customer services. IREN has recently expanded its AI Cloud strategy through infrastructure investments and acquisitions, positioning itself alongside emerging AI cloud providers targeting enterprise AI training and inference workloads.
