Jabil has unveiled a new line of 1.6 Terabit per second (Tbps) transceivers to meet the growing bandwidth demands of artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), high-performance computing (HPC), and cloud data center networks. Leveraging Intel® Silicon Photonics technology, these next-generation modules are designed for intra-data center connectivity and provide 200 Gbps per lane on both electrical and optical interfaces. The transceivers are available in DR8, DR8+, and 2xFR4 variants, and are engineered to effectively double bandwidth capacity per rack without requiring upgrades to existing infrastructure.
The 1.6T modules maintain the reliability standards of Jabil’s current 400G and 800G products while introducing significantly lower power consumption—a critical factor as data centers aim to scale sustainably. With compatibility, efficiency, and speed built in, these transceivers position Jabil to support the rapid expansion of optical interconnects required by AI clusters and cloud providers. Their plug-and-play design supports easier adoption, enabling faster deployment cycles in hyperscale environments.
Backed by more than a decade of experience in photonics manufacturing, Jabil’s new transceivers complement its expanding portfolio of optical amplifiers, laser packages, liquid cooling systems, and other high-speed interconnect components. From chip to system-level solutions, Jabil supports customers with end-to-end photonics development, enabling rapid time-to-market for next-generation optical networking technologies.
