Lightwave Logic announced a leadership restructuring aimed at driving product commercialization and expanding market opportunities for its proprietary polymer-based electro-optic materials. Yves LeMaitre, a photonics industry veteran, steps in as Chief Executive Officer, while former CEO Thomas E. Zelibor re-assumes a leadership role as President. The changes come as the company focuses on addressing high-growth opportunities in AI and data center networking.
The Board of Directors has also appointed Ronald Bucchi as the new non-executive independent Chairman, succeeding Dr. Michael Lebby, who has retired as Chairman and CEO. Lebby played a pivotal role in positioning Lightwave Logic’s materials in advanced photonics applications. The leadership team will now concentrate on operational excellence, cost management, and realigning R&D efforts to enhance competitiveness.
LeMaitre, who joined Lightwave Logic’s board in August 2024, brings over 30 years of expertise in optical networking, generative AI infrastructure, and commercial execution. The team intends to strengthen Tier One customer relationships while accelerating the deployment of polymer modulators to enable efficient and scalable AI networks.
• Yves LeMaitre appointed as CEO; previously held leadership roles at Lumentum and IPG Photonics.
• Thomas E. Zelibor named President; returns to operational leadership.
• Ronald Bucchi becomes Chairman of the Board.
• Focus on commercialization of polymer-based modulators for AI and data center markets.
• Dr. Michael Lebby retires as CEO and Chairman.
Yves LeMaitre commented: “Lightwave Logic is uniquely positioned to become a critical supplier of solutions for the generative AI market. The disruptive performance of our materials can enable energy-efficient scaling of AI networks.”
