NETSCOUT Doubles Arbor Cloud DDoS Mitigation Capacity to 33 Tbps

NETSCOUT announced plans to double the mitigation capacity of its Arbor Cloud DDoS protection platform to 33 Tbps, expanding its global cloud-based defenses against increasingly sophisticated, AI-assisted distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks. The upgrade, expected to be completed by the end of August 2026, expands the company’s global mitigation infrastructure across 16 scrubbing centers and follows NETSCOUT’s recent acquisition of additional DDoS network and infrastructure assets.

The expanded platform targets the growing frequency of large, multi-vector attacks against enterprises, service providers, and public-sector organizations. NETSCOUT said Arbor Cloud combines cloud-based traffic scrubbing with its on-premises DDoS protection through automated cloud signaling, enabling attacks to be mitigated close to their source while shifting large volumetric traffic to the cloud. Unlike services that primarily increase available bandwidth, NETSCOUT said Arbor Cloud integrates mitigation with global threat intelligence derived from the company’s deep visibility into Internet traffic and attack activity. The additional capacity is intended to improve protection against simultaneous attacks, carpet-bombing campaigns, and rapidly evolving attack vectors generated by large botnets.

Carlos Morales, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Arbor Cloud at NETSCOUT, said, “As enterprises increasingly rely on AI-powered applications and cloud-native services, while at the same time, attack size and complexity continue to rise, implementing automated and proactive defenses for uninterrupted availability has become a business risk imperative. Arbor Cloud plays a key role in achieving that objective.”

• Arbor Cloud mitigation capacity increasing to 33 Tbps
• Expansion spans 16 global DDoS scrubbing centers
• Capacity upgrade scheduled for completion by the end of August 2026
• Supports hybrid protection by integrating on-premises Arbor defenses with cloud traffic scrubbing
• Designed to mitigate large volumetric, multi-vector and concurrent DDoS attacks
• Backed by a 24×7 Security Operations Center staffed by DDoS specialists
• Addresses attacks from increasingly powerful botnets, including campaigns approaching or exceeding 30 Tbps
• Intended for enterprises, service providers, financial institutions, healthcare, retail and government organizations

🌐 Analysis

The announcement reflects the continuing escalation in DDoS attack scale as AI enables attackers to automate reconnaissance, accelerate attack orchestration, and generate increasingly complex multi-vector campaigns. At the same time, hyperscale cloud adoption and AI-driven digital services have increased the operational consequences of service outages, making high-capacity mitigation infrastructure an important component of cyber resilience.

NETSCOUT remains one of the longest-established providers in the DDoS mitigation market through its Arbor portfolio. The expansion to 33 Tbps positions Arbor Cloud among the industry’s largest dedicated mitigation networks while reinforcing the company’s strategy of combining cloud-scale traffic scrubbing with deep packet inspection, global Internet telemetry, and hybrid on-premises protection. Competition continues from cloud-native security providers and large content delivery networks that are also investing heavily in automated, high-capacity DDoS defenses.
