What’s driving the evolution of optical networking in 2025?

Chris Collins, VP of Sales & Marketing for Optical DSPs from Credo makes three predictions for 2025:

– Pluggable optics with 224G per lane signaling will dominate, with 3nm DSPs bringing 1.6T modules to power parity with previous 800G generation
– Optical link reliability becomes critical for AI clusters, as link failures can cost hundreds of thousands in training restarts
– The optical ecosystem expands with new suppliers entering the market to meet increasing demand and ensure shorter lead times for AI deployments
