Nokia, Extreme Broadband Boost Malaysia’s Data Centers

Nokia has signed a contract agreement with Extreme Broadband (EBB) and its subsidiary Open DC to upgrade six interconnected AI data centers across Malaysia. The deployment will enhance security, resilience, and scalability while aligning with Malaysia’s National Cloud Computing Policy and the MYDIGITAL initiative to grow the nation’s digital economy.

The upgrade will use Nokia’s Data Center Gateway, Data Center Fabric, and quantum-safe networking solution to interconnect sites in Cyberjaya, Johor Bahru, Penang, and Kedah. The goal is to ensure reliable, high-performance connectivity for enterprise customers, including financial institutions with strict security requirements. Nokia’s 7250 and 7220 Interconnect Routers will also help optimize energy efficiency.

Beyond the contract, Nokia and EBB signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly develop go-to-market strategies in data center and AI connectivity. The collaboration will include testing and validation of event-driven automation tools, multi-cloud connectivity, and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) protection services, extending value-added offerings for Open DC’s tenants.
