Nokia has announced the expansion of its Fixed Networks R&D facility in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, in collaboration with the Tamil Nadu government. The new lab, which will be the largest for Nokia’s Fixed Networks business and among the largest globally for the company, will focus on advancing technologies such as 10G, 25G, 50G, and 100G PON, Fixed Wireless Access, Wi-Fi, and MDU solutions. This development further positions Chennai as a key hub for Nokia’s global technology innovation efforts.

The expansion is being supported by the Tamil Nadu government, which is providing essential infrastructure and regulatory backing. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized in San Francisco, in the presence of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, Thiru. M. K. Stalin, and the state’s Industries Minister, Dr. T. R. B Rajaa. This collaboration underscores Chennai’s growing importance as a center for technological innovation within Nokia’s global operations.
