Normandy’s CRIANN Scales with Adtran’s 400G Optical Transport

CRIANN, Normandy’s regional supercomputing center, has upgraded its research and education network with Adtran’s FSP 3000 optical transport technology and ALM fiber monitoring platform. The upgrade, supported by the Normandy Region, is designed to increase both the capacity and resilience of CRIANN’s digital infrastructure. This development will support high-speed, reliable connectivity for scientific and academic institutions throughout Normandy. Installation and ongoing support are provided by Adtran’s Elite partner, Axians, which collaborated closely on the project.

With Adtran’s FSP 3000 OpenFabric 1200 solution, CRIANN’s upgraded network now enables transport capacities of up to 400Gbit/s per wavelength, supporting multiple OTN and Ethernet services on a single card. This flexibility allows the network to scale with evolving demands. Additionally, the ALM in-service fiber monitoring system offers precise, real-time geographic data for rapid response to fiber issues, which minimizes downtime and reduces maintenance costs. CRIANN’s maintenance team benefits from enhanced insights into the fiber infrastructure, resulting in fewer field visits and greater network availability.

• Up to 400 Gbit/s per wavelength with FSP 3000 OpenFabric 1200

• Flexible support for OTN and Ethernet services from 10Gbit/s to 400Gbit/s

• ALM fiber monitoring with real-time geographic information

• Reduced maintenance costs and improved availability

• Network upgrade boosts CRIANN’s capacity and reliability for research and education

“This deployment is about providing top-tier opportunities for scientists, teachers, and students. By merging technical expertise with our commitment to delivering excellence, we’re ensuring that the region stays at the cutting edge of research and innovation,” said Bruno Durand, GM of Axians.
