euNetworks Launches Quantum Shield with Adtran Optical Encryption

euNetworks has launched Quantum Shield, a new quantum-safe private connectivity service developed with Adtran’s encrypted optical transport technology to protect sensitive data moving between European data centers. The service is designed for enterprises and regulated industries requiring high-assurance, customer-controlled encryption across private, high-capacity connectivity infrastructure.

Quantum Shield will be offered as an added security layer for euNetworks’ Private Connect MOFN service. The architecture combines dedicated fiber infrastructure with quantum-resistant Layer 1 encryption, real-time fiber monitoring, and enhanced optical-layer visibility. euNetworks said the service responds to growing European requirements for encryption, crypto-agility, and secure data-in-transit protection under frameworks such as DORA, NIS2, and post-quantum cryptography migration guidance.

The deployment is built on Adtran’s FSP 3000 optical transport platform, incorporating S-Flex technology for high-capacity encrypted data center interconnect services. It also uses Adtran’s ALM fiber monitoring solution to detect and precisely locate potential fiber-tapping events. The combined platform is intended to deliver low-latency, high-throughput private connectivity while giving customers greater control and transparency over optical-layer security.

“Data centre connectivity sits at the heart of our customers’ operations, particularly in environments where security and resilience are non-negotiable,” said Marisa Trisolino, CEO of euNetworks.

🌐 Analysis: Are we seeing a shift in European data center interconnection from simple capacity provisioning toward private, security-assured optical infrastructure? For enterprises handling regulated, financial, government, cloud, or AI-related workloads, quantum-safe encryption at Layer 1 can reduce exposure before traffic reaches higher network layers. The addition of continuous fiber monitoring is also significant because it addresses not only cryptographic risk but also the physical-layer threat of fiber tapping across metro and long-haul routes.
