NTT Corporation, alongside tech partners IP Infusion, Broadcom, Edgecore Networks, UfiSpace, Fujitsu Optical Components, and NEC Corporation, has launched the IOWN Network Solution (400G) for high-speed inter-data center connectivity. This new offering aims to reduce construction and operation costs by 50% and cut power consumption by 40%, addressing the growing demand for efficient data center infrastructure. The solution integrates NTT’s IOWN technology with IP Infusion’s network operating system, OcNOS, and provides flexibility through disaggregated hardware and software components. This modular approach allows customers to select optical transceivers based on open standards, improving investment efficiency and adaptability.
The IOWN Network Solution (400G) establishes inter-data center links by combining a disaggregated network OS, white box switches/routers, and 400G ZR/ZR+ optical transceivers, allowing for flexible, long-distance high-speed transmission. Compared to conventional approaches, which use integrated hardware with limited optical transceiver options, this solution disaggregates the software from the hardware, enabling customers to choose from a variety of open-standard optical transceivers. This reduces procurement and maintenance costs, shortens construction times, and lowers power consumption while maintaining stable transmission over long distances.
