Sonic Fiber Internet selected Adtran to deploy a 50G PON in California, advancing the region’s fiber infrastructure to handle rapidly growing broadband demands. By leveraging Adtran’s 50G PON technology, Sonic aims to upgrade its existing GPON and XGS-PON networks seamlessly, ensuring minimal disruption for users and offering an efficient path for future upgrades as technology evolves.

• Partnership introduces 50G PON connectivity, boosting speeds to 50 Gbps

• Sonic’s network upgrade coexists with current GPON and XGS-PON setups

• Combo PON allows for flexible, multigenerational fiber deployment

• Rollout targets high-demand regions with future scalability

• Reduced operational costs and environmental footprint

“With their forward-thinking approach to advancing high-speed broadband, it’s no surprise that Sonic is taking a leading role with 50G PON. Our partnership will drive future-ready infrastructure to meet both today’s and tomorrow’s connectivity demands, further strengthening Sonic’s position as a pioneer in ultra-fast, highly reliable internet services,” said Christoph Glingener, CTO of Adtran.

  • Sonic, established in 1994 and headquartered in Santa Rosa, California, is a leading independent internet service provider (ISP) in Northern California. The company offers high-speed fiber-optic internet services, including 10 Gbps residential connections, across various regions such as the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, and Los Angeles.
