Symmetricom and Cavium announced a collaboration for delivering synchronization for 3G and 4G/LTE equipment.
Symmetricom’s SoftClock fully supports both the IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP) standard as well as the Network Time Protocol (NTP) and has now been certified for operation on Cavium’s OCTEON Fusion base station-on-a-chip products.

QLogic built Fibre Channel adapters and storage networking silicon. What became of it?
QLogic brought Fibre Channel adapters and storage networking silicon to Semiconductor. That work was distinctive enough to lead to its acquisition by Cavium for US$1.36B. The standalone name now passes into the archive — but the team and technology continue inside Cavium today. One of 430 names here whose work outlived the company.

cdmaOne (IS-95) served 1995–2022. What ultimately replaced it?
cdmaOne (IS-95) qualcomm's code-division approach: every call was spread across a wide band with a unique code, so all users shared the same spectrum at once and the network sorted them by code, not by channel or time slot. Its job passed to LTE — but the problem it solved, and the ideas it proved, live on in what replaced it. The standard rests here in the archive.
