From the Technology Graveyard
You just read about LTE. Here is what it replaced:
CDMA / EV-DO (cdma2000) served 1995–2022. What ultimately replaced it?
CDMA / EV-DO (cdma2000) every call was spread across a wide band by a unique pseudo-random code; receivers correlated against that code to extract their signal while all users shared the same spectrum at once. Its job passed to LTE — but the problem it solved, and the ideas it proved, live on in what replaced it. The standard rests here in the archive. One of 198 technologies here that opened a door and then held it for the next.
