MaxLinear Launches 1.6T ‘Rushmore’ DSP

MaxLinear has introduced its latest innovation in optical interconnect technology—the 1.6T Rushmore DSP and PAM4 SerDes, now sampling and commercially available. Built on Samsung’s advanced CMOS node, Rushmore supports 200G per lane operation and is optimized for low-power (<25W) optical modules, targeting the next generation of Ethernet and InfiniBand networks.

0Leveraging MaxLinear’s experience in DSPs from 100G to 800G, Rushmore integrates advanced digital pre-distortion (DPD) to support a range of laser technologies, including EMLs and silicon photonics. It also offers low latency, enhanced power modes, and real-time diagnostics features such as MPI detection and pre-FEC BER monitoring. The device can be combined with MaxLinear’s Washington TIA.

• Supports 1.6T (200G/lane) transmission for optical modules and active copper cables

• Built on Samsung’s advanced CMOS for improved power and performance

• Optimized for <25W DR/FR modules compliant with OIF, IEEE, and IBTA standards

• Automated digital pre-distortion for all laser technologies

• Low latency architecture suited for AI/ML cluster interconnects

• Integrated driver reduces overall system power and cost

• Embedded diagnostics: MPI detection, 8×8 crossbar, pre-FEC BER monitor

• Co-designed with MaxLinear’s Washington TIA for top-tier optical link performance
