Edgecore Unveils IOWN-Enabled DCI Chassis for Disaggregated AI Infrastructure

Edgecore Networks debuted its next-generation Data-Centric Infrastructure (DCI) Chassis system at COMPUTEX 2025, showcasing a new platform developed in partnership with NTT to support disaggregated data centers and distributed AI workloads. The new system leverages NTT’s Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) technologies to deliver 400 Gbps high-speed inter-data center connectivity, emphasizing modularity, openness, and energy efficiency.

The DCI Chassis system features an open Ethernet switch architecture with spine, leaf, and management nodes, along with integrated PCIe and CXL fabric technologies, GPU-based accelerator servers, DCI controller software, and optical modules for high-speed interconnects. The system supports flexible configurations tailored to AI and cloud infrastructure, making it well-suited for hyperscale deployments and future IOWN applications.

The collaboration with NTT aligns with the broader IOWN Global Forum objectives of delivering photonic-based computing systems to reduce power consumption and increase bandwidth. “This IOWN DCI Chassis system reflects the practical realization of this vision,” said Yoshitsugu Shimazu, Vice President of NTT’s Innovative Technology Office. Edgecore’s president, Mingshou Liu, added, “We are proud to showcase how our collaborative technologies are ready to meet the growing demands of AI and cloud-scale infrastructure.”
