Gigabit Fiber has launched a major network expansion linking Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Phoenix, with Nokia and LightRiver providing the optical backbone. The project uses Nokia’s 1830 Global Express (GX) optical transport platform, deployed by LightRiver, to deliver low-latency, energy-efficient connectivity optimized for AI data centers and hyperscale workloads.

The expansion enables Gigabit Fiber to activate new on-net connections in days, accelerating capacity delivery for hyperscalers, enterprises, and wholesale providers. The Nokia 1830 GX platform provides scalable bandwidth and reduced power consumption—key priorities as regional data centers ramp up for AI training and inference workloads.

By strengthening critical network corridors across Texas and Arizona, the project aims to improve throughput and reliability for customers in major metro areas while supporting future AI and cloud service growth. Gigabit Fiber, based in Dallas, serves hundreds of enterprise and carrier clients in the region.

• Network links Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Phoenix

• Powered by Nokia 1830 GX optical platform, deployed by LightRiver

• Targets AI data centers, hyperscale operators, and enterprise hubs

• Enables rapid turn-up of new on-net connections within days

• Designed for scalability, efficiency, and reduced power consumption

“Together with Nokia and LightRiver, we’re building the foundation that fuels innovation and growth in the AI era,” said Chris Degelia, Partner and General Manager at Gigabit Fiber.

🌐 Analysis: This partnership highlights how regional fiber operators are upgrading optical infrastructure to meet AI-driven bandwidth demand. Nokia continues to expand its 1830 GX footprint in North America, leveraging channel partners like LightRiver to deliver turnkey, power-efficient transport solutions. Competing optical vendors such as Ciena and Infinera are pursuing similar AI-optimized interconnect deployments across major U.S. metros.
