STACK and Amazon Plan $12B AI Data Center Campuses in Northwest Louisiana

STACK Infrastructure announced plans for a $12 billion multi-campus data center development across Caddo and Bossier Parishes in northwest Louisiana, in collaboration with Amazon and regional public-sector partners. The Denver-based developer said the coordinated, multi-site investment will expand digital infrastructure capacity while driving long-term economic activity across the region.

The project spans campuses on both sides of the Red River and will support next-generation data centers designed for AI and cloud computing workloads. Construction is expected to generate more than 1,500 jobs, with the campuses projected to support more than 540 permanent, full-time roles once operational. Officials said the facilities will contribute millions of dollars to state and local tax bases and fund associated infrastructure upgrades, including water, wastewater, and electrical systems.

STACK said it will fund all infrastructure costs required to support operations, aligning development with available utility capacity and planned system enhancements. The company is working with Amazon, regional utilities including SWEPCO, and local leaders to coordinate execution and system upgrades intended to enhance reliability and protect long-term rate stability. The campuses will also incorporate water-positive programs consistent with STACK’s responsible development principles.

  • Capital investment: approximately $12 billion
  • Location: Caddo Parish and Bossier Parish, northwest Louisiana
  • Construction jobs: more than 1,500
  • Permanent jobs: more than 540 full-time positions
  • Focus: AI and cloud computing data center campuses
  • Infrastructure scope: water, wastewater, electrical system upgrades

“We are excited to make this significant investment in northwest Louisiana and are looking forward to being an excellent community partner while creating long-term, positive impacts in our new home in The Pelican State,” said Matt VanderZanden, CEO, STACK Americas.

🌐 Analysis: The Louisiana project reflects intensifying hyperscale demand for AI-oriented data center capacity in secondary U.S. markets, where land availability, utility scale, and regulatory environments support large multi-campus builds. Amazon and other cloud providers continue to diversify geographic footprints beyond traditional hubs, aligning with broader industry trends toward grid-integrated infrastructure planning, water stewardship programs, and coordinated utility investment to support AI-driven power density growth.

STACK Infrastructure has built a global footprint across North America, EMEA, and APAC, positioning itself as a preferred build-to-suit partner for hyperscale cloud and AI customers. The company focuses on large-scale campus environments with phased expansion models that allow clients to scale megawatt capacity over time. In recent years, STACK has expanded in markets such as Northern Virginia, Silicon Valley, Portland, Toronto, Milan, Oslo, and Tokyo, targeting regions with access to renewable energy, fiber density, and utility partnerships capable of supporting high-density AI workloads.

Louisiana has emerged as an increasingly competitive data center market due to available land, lower power costs relative to coastal Tier 1 markets, and state-level economic development incentives. In addition to this STACK-Amazon development, Meta has advanced a large-scale data center campus in Richland Parish, and other operators have evaluated northern Louisiana sites tied to the region’s transmission infrastructure and proximity to the National Cyber Research Park in Bossier Parish.
